About

You’ve probably arrived here from my main site. If you want, you can read more about me HERE.

How I Earn a Living.

Me

I was made redundant (again) some years ago. I decided to follow my passion and retrained as a journalist. I now just about make a living as an independent journalist. This means that for me, like most people, there is too much month left at the end of the money.

Unlike our mainstream counterparts, we independent types don’t have comfortable salaries. We aren’t required to write propaganda either, so there’s a big upside. I am free to research and write about anything I wish to investigate. I could not do this work without reader’s kind support. So, if you value what I do, please consider donating to support my work.

I don’t speak for anyone but myself, but I think it is reasonable to say that most independent journalists survive by cobbling together various income streams. My blog and my Substack only exist because of the kind donations and subscriptions that I receive from my readers. Other than one article specifically written to provide Substack-related information to paying Substack subscribers, I do not paywall any content.

I don’t advertise on my site or on my Substack. I don’t want to be tied to any contracts or inducements. I do not monetise any videos I post. I refuse to limit access to my work only to those who can afford to pay for it.

My blog and Substack articles are widely syndicated and republished by other sites. Occasionally without giving accreditation. I do not receive any remuneration for these reposted pieces. If you see any advertisements in articles written by me, I didn’t insert them, and I don’t get any income from any sales or affiliate products.

I supplement my income through paid articles I am occasionally commissioned to write. Currently, most of these pieces are written for Whitney Webb’s UnlimitedHangout. These articles often take months to research and write, and I cannot earn a living from this alone.

Selling physical and digital copies of my books on this site is an important income stream for me. At some point in the future, I intend to sell cups, mugs, T-shirts, and other branded “stuff”or “merch”, as many people call it. I have no idea if this will work or even how it is supposed to work. Fingers crossed, eh?

Please do not buy my books from Amazon. I have ended my agreement with Amazon and I have informed Amazon that they do not have my permission to continue selling any of my books. I receive no income from these sales and they are made without my consent.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

All the best,
